CAMP APPLE OFFERS HIGH INTEREST FOR STUDENTS!
Camp Apple provides an ideal balance of old fashioned summer fun, school year readiness and enriching activities for our students. During circle time the focus is on exciting theme based lessons that students are genuinely interested on. Students will also enjoy unique follow up activities with "hands on" experiences that support the lessons: art, music, dance, drama, cooking and games are among the many creative offerings at Camp Apple. Camp Apple is also unique in our emphasis on group interaction and the development of social skills as students learn and observe positive methods of interaction in communicating with teachers, peers, groups and individuals. We have often received compliments from local public school teachers who've let us know of their appreciation of our students' impressive attention spans, enthusiasm for learning and cooperative attitudes.
After the first four weeks of Camp many former Camp Apple students (grades 2-5 in the fall) now attending our sister school and camp, Magic Apple/Camp Western Town) elect to join Camp Apple as well. As educators we feel the positive influence of older students cannot be overstated, and as alumni of Camp Apple, our "big buddies" do a great job in providing direct experience with cooperative learning, team work and peer learning as outstanding peer role models and leaders..

June 12-16, 19-23 Club Dinosaur: Students will visit Seacliff Beach to go on a fossil hunt after an exciting lesson on dinosaur digs. We will also create paper mache dinosaur eggs, enjoy fact filled dinosaur lessons, sing and dance to dino songs, and participate in measuring projects to learn more about their actual sizes.
June 26-30, July 10-14 **Bugology: Students will learn cool facts about insects, learn how they adapt and survive and even hunt with our own hand-made bug catchers. Students will also cook up “dirt cups” (with oreos & pudding) and much more, go on an insect scavenger hunt, create insect art, and design our own creatures in clay!
**NOTES: 1) Camp Apple typically closes the first week in July.
2) Beginning the second week in July and continuing through August, Camp Apple's enrollment of students in grades 2-5 (fall grades) increases significantly as students from our sister school (Magic Apple and Camp Western Town) elect to joining the fun at Camp Apple after Camp Western Town ends. Camp Apple students benefit in a number of ways as they develop multi-aged and cooperative learning skills. The “big kids” also benefit as role models for our Kinders and first graders and love being able to assist teachers in presenting mini-lessons for Apple's "little buddies: including games, reading, art, dance, drama, cooking, etc.
July 17-21, 24-28 Junior Space Camp: Students will learn all about the planets, enjoy watching a balloon rocket experiment and learning about propulsion, create glow-in-the-dark jewelry and join a fun skit about aliens! We’ll also create a classroom rocket and study astronauts and space travel.
July 31-August 4, Aug. 7-11 Knights and Castles: Students will learn about the code of honor and what it took to become a knight, try sword fighting and other feats of daring. We’ll also compare the dragons of the East and West, enjoy castle building with our round castle legos from Spain and giant block legos as well!
